What cited sources report about GHRP-2

GHRP-2 (pralmorelin, KP-102) is a synthetic hexapeptide ghrelin-receptor agonist of sequence D-Ala-D-2-Nal-Ala-Trp-D-Phe-Lys-NH2. It is approved in Japan as pralmorelin (KP-102) for use in the diagnosis of growth hormone deficiency, but has no FDA-approved indication and no marketing authorization in the United States or European Union. The summaries below report what individual cited sources state; this page does not assert claims beyond what those sources report.

Li et al. (2024) — Arthroscopy

A preclinical study from the Sports Medicine Center and Department of Orthopedic Surgery at West China Hospital (Sichuan University) used a rat rotator-cuff-tear model to study GHRP-2 effects on tendon-bone healing. The authors observed in vitro suppression of M1 macrophage polarization markers (Cd86, Nos2, tnfa) and reported in vivo improvements in histologic scores, bone mineral density, biomechanical maximal failure load, and gait parameters in GHRP-2-treated animals at 4 and 8 weeks postsurgery.

GHRP-2 may be associated with decreased M1 macrophage production and increased histologic and biomechanical tendon-bone healing properties in a rat RCT model.

Mendias and Awan (2026) — Sports Medicine

A 2026 narrative review from the Performance Medicine Institute placed GHRP-2 alongside ipamorelin and other ghrelin-receptor-agonist peptides in the unapproved-peptide market discussion. The authors noted that animal-model evidence outpaces controlled human-trial evidence for these compounds, and that gray-market promotion direct-to-patient operates outside regulatory oversight.

Many unapproved peptides demonstrate favorable tissue repair and metabolic outcomes in animal models, but rigorous human safety data are scarce, and there is potential for serious harm to patients.
